Fam at the airport Jeff and Jake. Called to serve

On Tuesday, September 1st, The Hansen family met to set Jeff apart for his mission. It was a very sweet and spiritual experience. A small gathering of just family attended. Testimonies were shared, songs were sung and President Craig Salmon set Jeff apart. Jeff mentioned that he felt very calm and peaceful after the setting apart as the mantle of a missionary was placed upon him. His dad was his companion for the remainder of the evening and for the first time in a very long time, Jeff was in bed by 10:30.

On Wednesday, September 2nd, the Hansen family was up early to take Jeff to the airport. He departed Phoenix for Salt Lake City, where he then caught a shuttle to the Provo Missionary Training Center. He will be there for the next 9 weeks learning the tagalog language in preparation for his next 22 months of missionary service in the San Pablo Philippines Mission.

He was blessed to be able to depart the same day as his good friend and fellow priest quorum member, Jake Taylor. Jake will also be serving in the Philippines, however he will be in the Manilla Mission.

Jeff was excited, nervous, teary eyed but ready for the challenge of the next two years. We have not heard from him since he arrived, but expect to hear something in the next day or so. We will post his communication once it is received.

Thanks to Matt Heninger for the instruction on how to build a blog. Although ours is not as deluxe as his. Not much we have is as deluxe as what he has. :) LOL
