Hello World Wide Web!!
How are all of you guys this fine valentines day?? I hope your doing good haha... As for me, I am with my trusty companion Elder Liddle.. and NO GIRLS.. thats totally bawal..
Anyways.. lets get down to the real nitty gritty (in a Nacho Libre accent)..
This week for me was kinda disappointing yet again.. Elder Liddle and I have hit a rut in our work. We only have 6 progressing investigators and were trying something different to fill all of our extra time. So far its not really working but its really what president wants us to be doing and it helps us focus more on the members. So we talked about in ZLC how missionaries in the Philippines can FIND investigators really easily but the hard part is retaining them and helping them progress.. For example, Elder Liddle and I, if we wanted we could go out and find 30 new investigators this week and teach 25 lessons, but None of those investigators would progress, thus making our time not used as effectively as it couldve been.. Missionaries here use tracting just as a simple "Time Filler".. its what they do when they have nothing else to do. And most missionaries, including myself, do not like tracting. Its funny cuz when you think about it.. how the heck are you going to find new investigators when you hate what your doing... you shoudl look for new investigators because you are truly concerned about them and want to help them, not cuz you have nothing else to do and you were punted from your last appointment. So what liddle and i are focusing on is "going about doing good".. that is what the savior did in his ministry and it seemed to work pretty well for him.. So we are trying to emulate him and just look for small simple acts of service to do and just "Talk" with people.. rather than just show up at their door and share a message right off the bat we are just trying to befriend the people first.. and show them that we are not robots, that we are real people too.. Cuz i dont know about you.. But i definately do not trust robots. They scare me. So far its in the starting stages where were talking to a TON of people but not really getting that many lessons and investigators. But i guess its all good cuz right now were just trying to get the trust of the people... We have great faith that this coming week we'll be able to start teaching some of our Potential investigators that we met.
As for our progressing investigators, they are doing just great! We actually visited Dariel (Not Darren) haha, this week and it went AWESOME!! We asked him why he called us over and he said that it was like he had an angel on his right shoulder telling him to join that church and then a devil on his left telling him not to haha.. We took some time to get to know him as well. He grew up in a Quezon province and has lived a very humble life.. He became religious when he fell in a river and almost drowned. He believes that the Lord spared his life and that he has something he needs to fulfill while he is here on earth. It was about that time when he told us that he wants to become a missionary just like us.. I then asked him his name and he said that he just barely turned 20 last december! so he has hope still to go on a mission! Elder Liddle and I are gonna try to get him baptized within the next 4 weeks or so! We love him and are so excited for his progress!
As for Jennifer and her family, we went there every day last week but then they werent there.. ANd finally yesterday someone finally told me that they have been in batangas this whole week and wont be back till like the middle of this week. So thats why we havent been able to contact them. We are hoping to get the ball rolling this week for them. Keep praying for them.
We also have still been teaching the Cangas family, they are progressing but its hard for them to come to church because the church for them is like 45 minutes away by jeep.. We will keep at it and hopefully find a way for them to come to church.
